Education & Fun

Winemakers, from amateur/hobbyist to professional desire to learn more about their craft and have some fun doing it! If that describes you too, then you will love our events. Summer Fun Day is an annual get-together at a Tennessee winery (each year a different winery is spotlighted) for games, wine tasting, and wine sharing. The TVOS Annual Conference is our biggest event, offering winemaking and grape growing seminars as well as guided wine tastings and wine & food pairing demonstrations. You will learn and have fun doing so!

Discounts

By joining TVOS you get access to exclusive discounts on our Annual Winemaking Competition fees and a FREE subscription to WineMaker Magazine!

Annual Wine Competition

Do your friends praise the virtues of your homemade wine? Do you prefer your wine to any store-bought swill you have tried?

If this sounds like you, then it’s time to enter that delicious elixir our competition and prove it!

TVOS holds the Annual Wine Competition open to all amateur wine makers. Gold, Silver & Bronze Medals are awarded in over a dozen categories, and the wines are judged by professional wine judges utilizing the industry standard 20 point system. Every wine entered is eligible to win a medal. Even if you do not place, you will get the judges’ notes back, providing you with the knowledge to make your wine even better the next time!

The Competition Awards are presented at the Annual Conference Banquet, where you can also meet many other like minded folks who enjoy making or tasting wine. The conference moves around the state and has been held in cities such as Kingsport, Nashville & Gatlinburg.

Harry & Lora Westcott Scholarship

Each year TVOS awards a scholarship to one Tennessee college student who is currently

  1. Conducting and promoting the study of grapes and wine
  2. Disseminating information on these topics, OR
  3. Fostering conditions to encourage TN grape growing or winemaking

The scholarship is funded by the live auction during the Annual Conference as well as by individual tax-deductible donations. To donate items to the auction or for more information, contact Chris Card, Scholarship Chair, at ceus43456@united.net or (615)310-5862.
